True Chic, Naturally was initially created as a natural hair product for African American or black hair. Natural and relaxed hair types were the primary users.   However, the following therapeutic benefits found in each of the main ingredients make this wonderful concoction a perfect fit for curly, textured and color treated  hair types as well.
Shea Butter- This African shea butter comes from Ghana, West Africa and is made from the nut of the African Shea tree. The process of making the butter is a long and arduous one. It contains a tremendous amount of fatty acids, which rejuvenates and moisturizes the skin. It acts as a sunscreen because of the rich content of vitamin E, and protects the skin from wind, sun and cold. It is used to treat dark spots, stretch marks and skin discolorations. The moisturizing property of shea butter cannot be underestimated and therefore it works well in treating damaged and brittle hair.   Vitamins A & E found in shea butter assist in the treatment of split ends and nourishes normal hair. Shea butter locks in moisture and works well on dry hair also. The minerals and vitamins also promote the growth of hair. Shea butter comes in five grades A, B, C, D and E which are determined by the nature of the nuts, the method of extraction and storage. True Chic, Naturally uses Grade A Ghanaian shea butter.
Coconut Cream Oil (organic)- This oil is extracted not from the older dried copra but from the freshly harvested coconuts. The process of extraction takes place shortly after the coconuts are opened and most of the nutritive value is retained. It is anti-fungal, has a high content of vitamin E, increases manageability and protects the hair along with providing sheen. It is also one of the few oils whose composition is small enough to allow it to penetrate the hair shaft.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (organic)- Olive oil can remove the build up of sebum (oil produced by our scalp and skin) that interferes with the formation of new hair follicles. Olive oil can also help soften hair and make it more pliable. While there is some disagreement among the experts, olive oil is also widely considered to penetrate the hair shaft as well.
Castor Oil (organic)- Castor oil is rich in fatty acids and is lubricating. It attracts moisture to the skin. It is rich in Vitamin E, minerals and proteins. It is used in the treatment of hair loss. It boosts blood circulation to the follicles and stimulates circulation of nutrient rich blood to the scalp.
Avocado Oil- Rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2, B5, D, E, minerals, protein lecithin and fatty acids. It is a deeply penetrating oil suitable for skin and hair care. Need I say more?
Meadowfoam Seed Oil- It is said to moisturize hair and skin better than most oils. It helps to add shine and moisture to the hair and scalp.
Jojoba- The composition of jojoba most closely resembles sebum, which is the oil our skin and scalp produces, thus making it a sought after oil to keep our scalp moisturized.
The combined effect of the shea butter along with the therapeutic oils, vegetable glycerin and aloe vera produces this product which contains a powerhouse of nutrients for both hair and skin. Your hair and skin deserve True Chic, Naturally.
